In our last newsletter, we announced that ESV was named a 2022 Best Place to Work. We’ve had many clients congratulate us and ask ‘why and how’. Over the next few months, we’ll include a story in our newsletter which provides an insight into why. In this spotlight piece, we focus on the bespoke learning and development program we have created for our people. Investing in our teams learning, development and growth is one of our top priorities.
We offer a range of different training opportunities which includes:
Monthly tax and accounting training
Once a month our resident tax expert, Partner David Prichard hosts sessions exploring industry monthly tax updates. Working with our team, David talks through all the updates and ensures our team are equipped to tackle all of our clients’ tax needs and are up to date with the latest information. We also host monthly “Do You Know Sessions” aimed at those who are working towards CA or have not started CA. These sessions are designed to provide training on a range of topics that are fundamental to our advisory business.
Leadership training
Partnering with Merilyn Speiser of Catalina Consultants, we are proud to offer an Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), Manager Development Coaching Program (MDCP) and Coaching Leadership Development Program (CLDP). ELP is a key strategic priority for us as we develop key talent beyond the completion of a technical degree. We are in our sixth year of running the program and proud of the impact this program has made in nurturing and developing the future leaders of ESV. After ELP is MDCP – a program designed to help our leadership team develop their personal brand and leadership styles. We equip them with the skills they need to effectively manage a team and clients. Then CLDP is an individualised program aimed at supporting our Client Managers transition to Client Director.
Knowledge sharing sessions
These are run on a regular basis depending on needs of the team. Recent topics include training on newly released software, our new client diagnostics tool, how to create effective PowerPoint presentations and tips and tricks on the use of excel.
Advisory lunch and learn
Born from our firm-wide TRIBE Day earlier this year, we had an overwhelming request from our team to create more opportunities for client interactions. To help better prepare and arm them with the knowledge to create meaningful client interactions we created our Lunch & Learn Advisory Sessions. Covering topics from how to prep for a client meeting through to tips for communication and how to provide more value for our clients.
Team training
Each of our teams run training sessions which cater to the specific needs of their team and include case studies on clients they all know (thus bringing the training to life). Facilitation is shared amongst the team so everyone in the team has the opportunity to hone their own ‘trainer’ skills – train the trainer.
We are incredibly proud of the bespoke training and development we offer at ESV – it’s just another reason why we have been awarded a 2022 Best Place to Work. Going into 2023 we have further plans to expand and enhance the program we offer – all designed to support the growth of our people.
