As the holidays quickly approach, it is easy to get caught up with the hustle and bustle of all the events and activities that the Christmas season brings. However, this period is also the season of giving and reflection as many of us looking for ways to share the Christmas cheer with other’s who are less fortunate, but also look back at the events of this year as its close approaches.
At ESV, we are always looking for ways to engage and give back to our community, and over the years we have had the honor to use our professional experience and know-how to support many not for profits and charities. As we run our yearly Toy Drive to support The Smith Family Toy & Book Appeal, we thought this would be a great opportunity to look back and share a few of our charitable firm achievements this past year.
As part of our goal to give back to give back and support causes important to our staff, we hold quarterly fundraisers and events focusing on specific organisation. This October, our staff were passionate about supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation. As such, ESV held its annual Pink Breakfast as well as a charity morning tea with a heartfelt presentation from Tina Doueihi, a breast cancer survivor. Together, with the great initiatives of our staff we raised over $1,500 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
As well as our quarterly fundraising events, ESV provides a number of pro-bono professional services to charities and not-for-profits such as Maccabi, Jarrah House and Jewish House. We understand that many of these organisations face unique challenges including, rapidly changing legislation, obtaining grants, managing stakeholder expectations and increased regulatory obligations, all of which can put considerable pressure and financial strain on these great organisations. This year, our Audit Division has had the pleasure of working with our new pro-bono client, Bowel Cancer Australia whose CEO, Julien Wiggins came to our offices to lead on a talk on bowel cancer in Australia to our staff and the preventative measures we can all take to stay healthy.
While these are just a few of our charitable events and work this year at ESV, we have also supported many of our staff members’ own initiatives, including but not limited to: the RSPCA’s Million Paws walk raising over $2000, the Colour Run for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and Jersey Day.
At ESV, we believe that business should be leaders in driving social change in their communities, and are proud to part of this and look forward to supporting more of these organisations in the new year.
